ever replaced the bag on an h-30 with a solid holding tank? I've got the 1980 model and would like the demensions of what might fit where. The current flexible tank is located in the port side v-berth stowage compartment - would like to start there but the thru hulls and the hand pump associated with the current waste system limit size. I'm considering a v-shaped tank... but what size? Never did well with volume or word problems. Thanks in advance for all responses.

It's an interesting question..

since an owner of my H37C did just the opposite. My boat had the aluminum tank removed and replaced with a bladder type. It is in the center locker of the v-berth, what is supposed to be the chain locker but is huge. The tank has been no problem and there is no odor. It pumps out just fine and it could be moved anywhere because it can take any shape. Wish I knew it's life expectancy though.

Holding Tank Replacement

My parter and I are in the process of replacement now. We have purchased a 9 gal rectangular tank and are going to mount a board that will support it high enough to reach the through the hull fittings. Best option is to build a "tank" out of cardboard and then see what options are commercially available. We got ours through Boat/US.

Here's what I used

Al- I replaced my bladder with a 16 gallon plastic tank. I moved it from the port locker to the front V locker. I've been extremely happy with it. Vented it properly, and no smell, plus I get more capacity. I got the tank from Ronco plastics http://www.ronco-plastics.com Search under special tanks and put it 16 gallons. Tank number 6 is what I used. I did have to cut away a little bit of the front locker opening to get the tank in, but I just reinstalled the cut away with a piece of wood. Let me know if you need anymore info.
