My H34 has an older Harkin jib furler. On two occasions over the years, the foil sections, which are held together with roll pins and adhesive, have seperated. Has anyone resolved this problem by drilling out the pin holes, tapping the insert and installing screws to replace the pins?

I have the same thing.. Harkin still sells the pin replacement kit. The adhesive is Locktite Red, their permanent adhesive. What I found is that if your forestay sag gets excessive, the foil will work the pins out as it spins and flexes from turning around a catenary instead of a straight line.. Yes, I have thought of replacing the pins with nuts/bolts but haven’t been vexed enough yet to tackle it.. I didn’t think of tapping the internal foil connector and using a screw on each side, that may be a viable thing to do. I suspect that the same flexing that is working out the pins might do a fatigue failure on the screw threads ?? I am thinking that my slowly degrading mast support is the culprit, allowing the headstay to sag more than it should. Good luck with ‘em,
