My mast has been unstepped this year, but probably won,t next year. What should I do to take advantage of it laying on deck. We also tend to sail late into the evenings and was wondering if anyone sells a light kit for the wind indicator that I could install while its down. Again , Thanks in advance for any help. This site is great. Grigs

Yes, Davis sells a light kit for the windex.

You will need to wire it to either the navigation lights or to it's own switch. You don't want to connect it to the anchor light (after all, you don't want to look like a powerboater, merrily sailing along with your navigation lights and your anchor light blazing merrily away.) Here's What we did on our C-25

When we were installing a harken furler last summer, we did the following: -Replaced the anchor light. (bulb and fixture) -Replaced the steaming light. (bulb and fixture) -Replaced and lubricated with sailkote the masthead sheaves -Added a windex. (the old one had broken off) -Lubricted the kerf with sailkote. -Inspected, but did not replace the spreader boots. I think that is all... I can't remember anything else. Would have replaced the running rigging, but the P.O. did that just a couple of years ago.
