Harken Furling Line Diameter

I am about to replace my Harken Furling line and need to know the correct diameter I should be using. My present furling line at 60' is a little too short and I am thinking I need to replace it with at least 70' of 3/8 inch line for my 31' Hunter. Is 3/8's line OK or should I use 7/16ths or 1/4? I have cut a piece of the existing line which appears to be 3/8's, but was just wondering from some of the more experienced old salts on this board what might work best. Thanks, Greg W De Pere, WI

De core of the problem

Some folks use the larger line and decore (take out center) of the first half (from furler). This makes the spool on the furler wrap flat without binding and still allows the working end to be strong.
