Hardware Sealant

Just a quick post to see what people are using these days to mount hardware. We have to mount a stanchion, a new stem fitting, bow pulpit and bow roller (all stainless). I've used some form of 3M 4100 or polysulphide when mounting hardware in the past, but thought I'd see what people are using lately.

Thanks,
Jack

I think the hull to deck joint and the bow pulpit and stanchons etc. were originally set with butyl caulk. I have done everything over on my Vega except the hull to deck joint and I used butyl. I am very happy wih it. Nothing leaks.Frank D. Vega 2141, Carpe Diemfitting, bow pulpit and bow roller (all stainless). While I think I could have done with a little less discussion of
countersinking I still want to thank you for the reference due to the rest
of the write-up.

thanx,,,

Thanks everyone for the information. I ordered some of the butyl and will give that a shot.

Someone hit my boat this summer, bending the pulpit, bow roller and stem fitting. I managed to straighten the pulpit this weekend and I'm having holes drilled for the new stem fitting. The roller is being modified and remanufactured. Your varying advice will be put to good use!
