Is there any one out there that has replaced their soft bimini with a hard top. I am thinking of doing this on m H30. Does anyone have any Pros or Cons on the idea? The cost is not a factor because I have a friend that does this kind of work and he will do it for just the cost of materials around $350.00 plus the powder coating. Thanks For any Help. Tony

We have talked about having a "T" top frame fabricated to replace out bimini top...Lace on canvas, but a rigid frame...Give more space for solar panels, cockpit lights..etc...Last time I chalk talked with the welder, he was talking around $900 for the frame, fitted, 1.25 inch ss tubing...Then we'd make the sunbrella cover to fit... Trying it

We are replacing the sunbrella with 1/4 starboard. We have a 2000 320, and the last time we took the bimini off for cleaning and waterproofing, when we put it back on, all of the seams popped. We thought about getting it re-stitched, but knew that in a year or two, we'd be facing replacement, so we thought we'd try this. The part behind the arch is done, and it looks pretty good. We made the frame out of the existing stainless for the bimini, and some extra pieces of 1 inch stainless tubing that we picked up used. I'll take some pictures this weekend if you are interested....

Just e-mail me at ttaylor1@knology.net I really need to know the pros and cons of this adventure. what is your thoughts? Thanks Tony

Good Old Boat

Nov/Dec 2003. Had an article on building your own Hardtop Bimini. Look it over. I personally like the idea. Also check out www.tartarooga.com, www.lippincottcanvas.com/Harddodgers.htm, and http://www.canvascreations.biz/ for other ideas. Sounds like a do-it-yourself for someone with a few skills and good imagination.
