When pumping in raw water to flush the bowl the pump appears to be pressurized and hard to pump, very little water is taken in to flush. Whats up?

I have the same thing, I have a very tight kink in the hose which I need to fix.Dumb question, but is the sea water valve open?

yes the valves are open, could it be the holding tank needs a pumpout?

Vent Clear?

Dave: What type of head do you have? Have you checked the vent to see if it is clear?

First questions, then answers

Make/model of the toilet? Do you only feel the backpressure when the valve is set to "Wet" or also on dry?

IT IS A PAR MODEL??CHEAP IT PREASURIZES WHEN VALVE IS IN WET POSITION AND APPEARS TO EVACUATE OK IN THE DRY SIDE I,M JUST BUYING THE BOAT AND HAPPENED TO NOTICE IT.

Aha...

The wet/dry valve has failed...it's a VERY common problem with Jabsco toilets. The valve hangs, partially closing off the intake, preventing the toilet from bringing in any water and creating back-pressure. The cure: replace the wet/dry valve. While you have it apart is a good time to lubricate the toilet. Buy a tube of Super-Lube (same thick teflon grease that was in it when it left the factory). Put a healthy squirt in the pump, pump a few times to spread it all over the inside of the cylinder. Not only will your toilet need no further lubrication for a full season, but by doing it now, the grease protects the rubber parts in the toilet from drying out over the winter. You'll be good to go next spring.
