Hard Start Kit for A/C

I powered my 12000BTU aircon with Elemax(Engel) SHX2000 Genset. It runs ok. Out of curiousity, I fitted the Supco Hard Start Kit SPP6 across the Run Cap (as advised by Supco) but the aircon compressor won't run.
Shouldn't the Hard Start Kit be across the Start Cap instead? Any idea?

Take it off, If your unit has a start cap it already has hard start wiring.

I mistakenly, perhaps, thought this was a soft start for a hard-to-start AC unit. Did I get my terminology backwards? Wouldn't be the first time...

A hard start (super boost) goes on the run cap, but since you already have a start cap, you may want to check it to make sure it's good.
