I thought I would post a comment on that layman's tale the finest days of ownership are the day you purchase and the day you sell. Well there may be some truth to bare especially when you would like to move up to a larger newer boat and the time passes. My story is that
my 28 foot O'day served us extremely well for 8 seasons sailing around Shelter Island NY to Block Island to Martha's vineyard to Cape Cod where I decided to hand here over to my good friend and his son. This decision was based on many factors finance being the primary one in addition my friends son lives works and studies at the Atlantic Meritime Academy in Maine where they build boats as a result my O'day is slowly getting every kink worked out hopefully for a 1981.
She was the only fibreglass boat up at that marina this winter and now there are 3- 28 odays there, I quess this says something about the sailing economy. She is back in the water in much cooler waters this year and will hopefully be looking better each season until I sell her.
The good news still tight as a drum and the new engine of 5 years started on the first try.
more to come on her story.
