I have trouble hearing. Really a problem when my engine is running and I use my hand held to talk to a dockmaster about a slip assignment. I bought a handheld with a record and repeat feature that helps if I can remember the right buttons to push to get the repeat function to work. In a related issue, I just found an app for cell phones that converts speech to text in real time. Works great if you are hard of hearing and I wanted to share this with the rest of my fellow aging sailors. Once set up on your cell you will see your phone conversation as if it is a text message with both sides displayed in print. The text is AI generated from speech and has only a slight delay to process. Hardly noticeable. It is free to download with no monthly charges either. The app is called OLELO. Hope this helps others.
