Handle sqeak

PeggyHelp! We replaced our old head with a new Jabsco PAR Model 29090-0000 Manual Toilet in February. The pump hand squeaks. My husband has been putting vegetable oil in the bowl to get rid of the squeak. This only works for a few days and the tank odor has been awful. Can you recommend something that will get rid of the squeak? I use K.O. holding tank Bio- active treatment in tank and I am not sure of the effect the vegetable oil is having on the K.O. My husband also replaced the waste pump-out plug with a PVC elbow and a mesh screen to get addition air to the holding tank.New Live Aboard

Lubricate the pump properly

Anything you just pour down the toilet will wash out in a few days. Pick up a tube SeaLube, which is a thick teflon grease--the same thing that was in the toilet when it left the factory. Take the top off the pump and put a LIBERAL squirt of it inside it. That should keep the toilet working smoothly and silently for another several months. As for your odor problem, your tank vent configuration may not allow enough oxygen exchange for K.O. to work. Try Odorlos.
