Hand Rail Issue

I want to mount a Raymarine A70 GPS/Chartplotter on the helm. Problem is that the curved SS handrail is only 4" high and I need at least 7" of clearance if I am to mount the unit in that desirable location and keep a rail there. I can't seem to locate a source for custom hand rails on the net. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

What year

What year is your 290 that it has such a short hand rail,I had a 2001 290 and had no problem with a chartplotter at the helm on the hand rail but than again I guess maybe they used different size hand rail.

its a 2000. I guess my biggest problem is that I don't know whats available out there to accomodate the GPS/Chartplotter, If I could find a pod that would attach to the existing hand rail I think it could work out.
