Only had the boat a month, went to pump out the head yesterday. Opened the valve, started pumping with the hand pump and nothing happened. Used the same procedure several weeks ago and it was pumped in clean in a matter of minutes...Any suggestions?

Blocked tank vent is the first thing to check

When the vent is blocked it causes the pump to pull a vacuum, preventing it from pulling anything out of the tank. Read the article Tank Vent Maintenance in the Head Mistress forum reference library (link on the forum homepage). If that's not the problem, the diaphragm in the pump may have failed. Btw...you DO know that you must be at least 3 miles offshore to dump the tank legally? If not, better read "US Marine Sanitation Laws" while you're in the library.
