My laziness.........it always worked.....never checked it inside.

My BFL is a rechargeable Stanley search light from a big box store - works great!

These are excellent lights.. they are bright, cordless, rechargable, dont weight much so they float and they are waterproof.... and affordable.
the only thing I would recommend they change is to manufacture an identical light with a broad flood beam ..
The spot beam works good, but we run alot at night and for close work on the water, a wider beam is better.

Afraid not . . .

was that the floating kind Kappy ?
It doesn't float and it's not LED - but it's a great product. Will have to look into the Max version when it's time for the next one. Tks, Woody.

ok charged up the new light yesterday and tested it last night ...it has two brightness setting that you control by just pulling the trigger ...first pull is full bright and will shoot a light beam a good 400 to 500 ft or better ...the second pull is mainly a work light mode not near as bright and also energy saver as well so far i am happy with it the light is 520 lumens ...i also think i will invest in the 2200 lumens one ...if math is any indication the light will cast a good beam of a 1/4 mile or better but i'm sure it will be seen a lot further away on the other end i am also sure it will really light up a full sail at night quite well ...but for a little less than 1 boat buck having two lights is going to be ok fine...i may even be able to blind Kermit in dallas or wherever he is this weekend lol

2 lights are good if you do a lot of night cruising.

The 520 lumin is about all that can be reasonably used.. the water either absorbs the light or reflects it away from our eyes, but on a clear night, the 520 lumin will illuminate another hard, reflective surface such as boat at nearly a half mile range well enough for you to identify it with binocs, if they are powerful and image stabilizing... a small buoy may need to be a bit closer to be able to pick it out of the blackness...

seldom does any sportboat ever need to focus a spot beam so intensly on any object at that distance... its more commonly less that a quarter mile and almost always less than 200yds...

Unless we are out on a night that is exceptionally black or stormy, a light is hardly ever needed, but as we do use the boat a lot during the coldest stormiest parts of the the winter, we need a good light and the stanley led light performs as well as any i have used...
