I am thinking about replacing the main halyard on my 28.5. The current one is a replacement and seems to bind in the sheaves when I am dropping the sail which means I need to get up on the cabin and pull the sail down. What size were the original halyards for this boat? Thanks

I seem to remember that I used 3/8" halyards when I replaced them on my 28.5 several years ago. Sew the new halyards end-to-end onto the old ones using sail thread or whipping twine, then just run them up and cut the old line off. Lube your sheaves every time the spar comes down.

Eric: According to specs supplied to me by Hunter the main halyard is 3/8" - 90'. The jib halyard is 7/16" - 98' This was included with the 28.5 manual available from Hunter. Dave "Osprey"
