Couldn't find anything in the archives so here I am. I have a 1981 H33 with the original furling system. It is a Hood Seafurl and I'm starting to get halyard wrap when I change/hoist a sail. Do any others out there in cyber-land have similar problems? If so what did you do to correct the problem? Also, would installing a halyard block shorten the usable jib luff? I'd hate to re-cut my jib, especially if it would give me less sail area.

my H33 has a CDI

Sorry I can't help you with that question, but it reminds us that there might be different brands of OEM equipment on that popular boat. Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty

You can purchase a little plate ( I can't remember what it's called) at most of the boat stores that forces the halyard down straighter so as to lesson the wrap problem. I have one on my H37C... If you have a rigger in your area he can get/install one for you....

Not OEM

Actually, I don't think the Hunter 33 was delivered with an OEM furler, although most will have them by now. Back then, the only one that had a furler advertised, was the H37, with the cutter rig....let's see, maybe the H36 had one, too. Don't know...but the H33 did not. So, you will find all sorts of retro fits, done to varying standards. For what it is worth, I have had very good luck with my Famet, sort of a bullet-proof CDI made of aluminum.
