Halyard Sheave Pin

I just bought a '94 H26 and am going through some driveway commissioning prior to placing it in the water. I noticed that the sheave pin that the halyards turn through at the base of the mast does not have any method to retain it in place. After trailering this boat home I noted that the pin had worked its way out about 1". I am thinking about machining a snap ring groove in the sheave pin and installing a snap ring to prevent this pin from working it's way out under sail or while trailering. Has anyone else noticed this issue? Has this lack of a retainer not been a problem for those of you that have this same setup? Thanks for the advice.

Lost one

Lost one last year while raising mast. Luckly no damage done. You can use safety wire and accomplish the same thing. Good sailing. David Cox s/v Devine Spark

Lost one also

I lost the pin this past year also. I bought a stainless steel bolt about five inches long that fit the sheave and turned down the head to look more like a carriage bolt. Then I put some silicone under the head and put it back in place. Seems to work well. Lots of luck, Dean "Chateau de Vent"
