I have to replace one of the haylards on my Hunter Legend 37. Does anyone know how much line I require? What kind and size of messanger line is required to successfully pull the new haylard line through and into position. thanks Barrie

Barrie: You should be able to get the measurements from Hunter. There are also the IPJE here on the website. I took one of the 50' tapes to check the mast height and doubled it. Then determine how much line you need to run back to the cockpit (depending how your boat is rigged). When replacing the halyard, we use a large paper clip, laced into the end of the new halyard and the old halyard. Wrap with some rigging tape and hoist it over. This works exteremly well and is very safe. If you check the photo forum you will see a few shots of this procedure. Search on 'Halyard'
