I've decided to replace the halyard on my Vision-32 with a smaller diameter line of Vectran V-100. I think I can come up with ways to attach the new line to the old, but I suspect that there's a simple device or method. So, any suggestions? Thanks, Bill

Bill, Just cut off the halyard shackle from the old halyard and sew the butt end of it to the "cockpit end" of the new halyard. place a small bit of electrical tape over the butt joint so it doesn't snag on any thing. Then just pull on the old halyard and it pulls the new halyard thru. Pretty straight forward - not difficult.

Dick: Thanks for the tip. It's surely a very secure way to replace the halyard. Bill

Bill:

While uses just tape is easy, we like a little bit of safety in the equation. If you had to pull that mast because you lost the halyard would be expensive. We like to use a paper clip between the bitter ends. It also allows you to use a little less tape, which makes going over the sheaves a little smoother. We have done it this way for several years without an incident.

For this and other pull through tasks, I sew the butt ends together and then use a little tape to keep everything together
