I need to replace the Main Halyard on my 81' H30. It has the tall rig mast, and the halyard routes from the bottom of the mast to the cockpit. Can anyone tell me length? Technically I could mark and measure, but I thought I would ask you folks.

Luff is 37 feet?

I like Sailrite for checking dimensions, click on Link below. Their chart has your luff as 37 feet. Adding four and doubling is 82 plus eighteen back to the cockpit. A nice round 100 feet of 7/16" should do it. JSI has pre-spliced 7/16 x 115 with shackle for about 60 bucks(http://www.sailnet.com/store/item.cfm?pid=11882)

Line Size

Make sure the diameter is the same. The previous ownerof my 28 used 7/16 instead of 3/8 on the halyards and they do not run free. Going bigger is not always better.

Sailnet halyard

I ordered one of the $60 wonders. Their out of stock and don't have any idea when they'll get them. I used their raw data (110 ft of 7/16 Stayset X, Shackle, and Splicing charges) to match the halyard on the shelf at West Marine. It came to about $120. West Marine matched the price and discounted their presliced halyard by $50. You saw how Steve Dion and I put them on in the Photo Forum. (The old paper clip trick as seen in Crusiing World)

Halyard length

I use 110' of 3/8. Gives me a few extra feet to splice new eyes when I end-for-end.
