I just bought a 1980 Widgeon. It had been stored outside (loosely covered) for 19 years. It has small hairline cracks in various places (some in the textured no-skid, some not). How do I fix them?Paul
Most likely, these fractures are cosmetic only. They're a real pain in the butt to fix (ask me how I know) and I recommend just cleaning the boat up and learning to love those "wrinkles".Now, if you insist on fixing them, here's how you do it: Grind out each
I have some on my boat too. Question is which is more unsighly the repair or the cosmetic crack? If you look above at Fiberglass TRilogy II you will see detailed instructions on such repairs. I am going to do some just for practice as we (hopefully this off season) introduce repair kits.On non-skid repair, Fiberglass Hawaii's Santa Cruz (CA) store has a guy called John Collingnon who is an expert on boat building and how to redo non-skid. I may try this myself in the cockpit. Otherwise it's paint and grit time!ThanksJim Willis
