H50 master cabin headliner ceiling

Hello.

It looks like the frame supporting the headliner in the fore cabin, port side detached from the inside of the ceiling deck.

In order to inspect what is the situation and eventually repair it, I think some headliner has to be removed but that looks tricky, especially to put the headliner back in its original position and tension so to not end up with a result aesthetically worse than how it is now.

Looking for any advice how to do this activity correctly since boat upholsterers I contacted did not feel confident like putting their hand to it (boat stationed in La Spezia, Italy).

Thanks and warmest regards

Gianni

I believe that @artboas has posted on this, but couldn't find it. I'm attaching a link to a YouTube video that I found that does a good job showing how the track system works and how the liner tucks in. You can by "official" tools for doing the tucking, but I found that a good metal scraper/putty knife works pretty well. The one trick with that, so that I didn't snag/tear the headliner was to take the grinder to the putty knife to round front edge, especially the corners of the blade. I've pulled down a few sections while running wiring for various projects.

Good luck!

Hi,
Yes, I did post on this.
You are correct that a putty knife with rounded corners works well.
I would like to add the following tips…
Spread a thin layer of Teflon grease into the track. This makes a huge difference
Also, I used a plastic mallet to tap the back of the putty knife. This works quite well, as it “jumps” the material into the track

Just take your time with this …

I believe that SBO will be able to sell you the material.
It looks to me as though the track has become loose, or something. Perhaps water has gotten in.
I suggest you throughly review the cause of the sagging and wrinkling before you attempt a re-install.,
I can’t stress this enough. You need to plan this well, and have the material cut very close to the required end shape.
