Hello all. We are looking at living aboard our h41ac soon and starting to get her ready. One of the questions we have is how do people stow items in the vast aft locker without it all moving about when under way? Thinking of epoxying in some marine ply battens to then use some cargo type nets to create sections like in an aircraft.

Any other suggestions welcome.

When I bought our boat the PO had done something along the lines as your thinking. I wound up pulling out almost 30 pounds of damp plywood. If your going to do anything make sure the wood is sealed and as light weight as possible. Cargo nets sound good. I use it for aft anchor storage and have that strapped to the aft cabin wall and the rest of the stuff is all soft, floats and toys. We only use the boat on weekends and short vacations so you might want o sort that storage area out.

I have a much better idea

Look up a company called. Weldmount
They make really cool fasteners which come with super high strength epoxy which is meant to very permanently bond to Fiberglas
The fasteners are threaded studs, or female threaded posts.
With these, you can then attach starboard strips, to which you can secure your nets, etc.
So, you can randomly attach these wherever you want. You could actually attach shock cords directly to them as well
You can buy Weldmount kits which have neat assortments. Look on eBay for these
You will be impressed

@artboas very interesting stuff. I'm going to try some out. Thanks for the info.
Yes, this Weld Mount stuff is just amazing on boats.
It is ideal for attaching stuff to a hull or bulkheads.,
You can buy the “executive kit” on eBay for about $120. That includes the epoxy gun.
You will then need tubes of the epoxy as well. Make sure you store it refrigerated until you need it
There are a few types. Make sure you buy the right one.
The threaded studs are available in everything from 8-32 to 3/8
Plus, they have heavy duty cable tie mounts
What works well is using the studs with aluminum angle brackets.
I guarantee you will find this stuff amazing
