Our threads keep dropping off the bottom so here is a new one. Yesterday the yard mgr. grabbed the fork lift and dropped my new 3YM30 onto the rail bed. I marked the mount holes and he lifted the engine over the cockpit. I removed the mounts and started drilling and lag bolting. Thirty minutes later he dropped the engine on the new mounts. The picture is the result, before any alignment!. When I pulled the shaft close all bolts went into the shaft saver by finger. I wasn't misaligned more than .005!! I took a half turn on the front adjusters and used the feeler gauge, close enough. Having the engine dropped twice is really the way to go. No messing with a template. On the first drop I could see that I was very close. I had done a lot of measurements and adjusting while the engine was still on the factory delivered rails. It obviously paid off. I made one mistake. I should have bolted the 12 volt cables to the starter before I dropped the motor down. You would not believe how inaccesible that starter post is. Back and down low on the port side, behind the alternator and a heavy wire bundle. Still I think I can reach it with a long extension and the right metric socket. I'll post final pictures on the Photo Forum soon. Now to finish: wiring, fuel system, exhaust, gear and throttle cables, and hot water tank connections.
