Our H37C has been stored in Trinidad for 2 years while we returned home to work. Our mainsail (original) was shredded in a squall. I can't measure for a replacement so I need some help. The spec sheet says the luff(P) is 39'6" and the foot (E) is 13'0". How much extra room is there if any? What is the leach length? Is there a tack setback (distance from mast to tack pin)? What is the size of the track slide...7/8"? I would be happy to answer any questions about cruising the eastern Caribbean. We spent 5 years down there.

H37C Mainsail

Hello David, I'd like to help but there are a couple of variables. I've learned, for example, that there are some "tall-rigs" out there. I don't know if this is a factory thing or a result of owner upgrades. And I have seen a couple where the boom looked longer than mine. And I don't know if I understand your question about the tack. My main is at NorthSails presently while a new main is being made. They went on the boat and took measurements. I don't know if they would be willing to share those but it couldn't hurt to try. H37c main

David, I live on a '80 H-37c. Bought a new mainsail last year. Dimensions I used were luff 39.8, leech 41.5, foot 13.0. They worked fine for my boat. The foot is about 4 inches shorter than the boom, so I have plenty there for tensioning. Raising the sail tight, there's about 4 inches left before the top of the mast. I wanted the extra because I'm going to raise the boom a couple of inches so it clears my head when I'm standing in the cockpit. There's no tack setback on my setup. The pin itself is about 1 inch from the boom and mast. I thought the track slides were 1 inch, but I'll be happy to take a look at them tomorrow. If you have any other questions, feel free to shout. Be happy to send you sketches or photos, if your sailmaker needs anything like that. Email is john.patti.reid@juno.com Also, could you send me your email address. I might want to take you up on your offer for eastern Carribean info one of these days!
