Hunter 37c Scotland
Hi. I'm thinking of buying a 37 cutter here in the UK but it needs CE certification. Does anybody here know of any other H37's that have come to the UK or EU and have gone through the same process.

I'm going to need to create a technical file to prove the boat is compliant with the various rules. The more information I can gather before going the better.

I have been lurking on this forum for a couple of months now whilst narrowing down my shortlist for boats and settling on the cutter which is hull number 75.

Thanks

I know several, well at least a couple, that have gone to the UK. I met a fellow a few years ago in St. Maarten who had previously taken one across and I have seen a couple of adds on UK brokerage sites - or perhaps it was Yachtworld.com - for 37Cs that had been sailed over and imported. So I cannot give you any details or contact info, just that I know it has been done.

I'm your sister, #074. Best of luck with the process. With some luck of my own maybe I can visit one day on my own boat. Don't hold it against me but my wife is from Co. Clare, Ireland. I'll probably stop there first. :)

A Hunter in the UK

Good luck with your endeavour Angus. As I am sure you are aware, the CE standard for sailboats did not exist back when the Cherubini Hunters were born. I suppose there must be some "grandfather clause"? In any case, you will probably need to demonstrate equivalency. Here is a neat little program I looked at when I was shopping for a Hunter 37C - it alows you to compare various data related to seaworthiness and seakindlyness between different boats. For example, if you select Hunter 37C in one column and Moody 38 in the other, I think you will find the results quite gratifying.

If all else fails, maybe you could get someone at British Hunter to doctor you up a CE letter - do you think anyone would notice? :D

Here in the attached PDF developed by Jim Legere is what we know about the location of the H37C fleet. Kind of a short list knowing that there were over 400 built.
