Well, a nice first sailing season with our H37C is coming to a close on lake Michigan. Two more weekends to go and then out for the winter. As we were sailing last Sunday in beautifull sunshine, 18 to 22 knot winds and 48 degree water, my Sailrite dodger project came back to mind. Since there are very few H37C's in this area to check out various dodger installations, I would appreciate, if any of the other H37C owners, that have installation picture could share them with me by email. ( rmcdonald@wi.rr.com ) Also any advice, do's or dont's would be great. Thanks in advance for the usual great response from the members of this board. Richard 1979 H37C Rhapsodie

Photo forum.

Richard, check out the Photo Forum. Do a search on "canvas". Ron's Talisman, an H37C and not an H380, and Dave's H33 pictures are both of homemade dodgers. Ron has more pictures and I have attached one. I have the original white Island Nautical dodger, the short one since my traveler is in the cockpit. It is still serviceable but all my other canvas is black. I have actually considered two travelers. I would use one on the cabin top when I need the protection from the weather and the one in the cockpit when I really want to sail. Then we could have a fullsize dodger that hooked to the bimini. We keep the one we have folded down except in extreme conditions, I really do not like that enclosed feeling.

mine looks just like the one ed s sent.

But i have to say if i were making a new one i would bring back the dodger to cover the area on the forward sides of the bimini. it seemsto me that the dodger should come back to about were the top frame intersects the deck on each side. that gives you room to sit at the rear of the cabin and stoll be protected by the dodger.

Dodger

I just purchased a 1981 37 cutter. It has a dodger installed. I am going over to the boat end of next week. I will take some pictures and send them to you...
