Finally posted the pics of my "hawse pipe" project on the Photo Forum. As I mentioned in another post I still have some work to do. The keel area in the bow is so pointy that the chain will jam and not slide down to the bottom. I will have to glass in a little "sliding board". People ask me what I will do with all that free time after I retire. Yeah, right! Just seven more Mondays.

Wouldn't you know, they close that thing for the winter! So I guess I'll have to come down to Lake Lanier until Spring.Actually we plan to do a lot of the North coast next year. There is no Great Lake that we can't easily get into. So much to see, so little time and all that. But it will be good to really shake her down and finish those little projects without the old job in the way.

on next years itinerary. We plan to take a 2 to 3 week cruise next summer in the northern half. Ed,I retired in June and have not had time to do more than keep up with stuff (including the fact I've been away from home for three months)...The projects are still there, at home, waiting.So, while in Florida, I bought a beat-up Boston Whaler which gives me a chance to learn how to do fiberglass repair work. I learned that if you drip it on your skin, it stays.You will love it, just don't expect any "spare" time.Congratulations..Sanders

I did not used to think that the change would be this hard. Made even harder when my First Mate said we could have a new boat if I waited until 65! Problem is there is not one that I can afford that is better than my 1979 H37C.I'll keep you informed Richard. The only confirmed cruise is to the North Channel with several boats from our marina. But I don't think there is a firm date yet.But definitely out the canal in 2005!

Fair Winds, Ed!!!

We retired New Year's Day, 2001. We left the marina headed for Mexico, Sea of Cortez, Points South.....stopped in Avalon, Catalina Island (25 miles across the channel) for a week for some parts to catch up with us.......Been a long week!!We fell in love with this little town in the off-season.....Mexico will still be there, etc.....!Point being, you never know how things will turn out. We live here in the harbor, I drive a tour bus all over the island showing the visitors what a beautiful place this is. We're within reach of Donna's doctors (she's doing fine, thank God), we can keep an eye on the house, see our son once in a while, etc. etc. Sure couldn't have planned things any better!We wish you and the First Mate all the best, and I mustn't forget the other member of your family, your 37C!Dave & Donna & Duet
