We have a 2008 Hunter 36. Directly behind the steering wheel, on the floor of the cockpit, there is a cover to access the rudder post for the emergency tiller. Our rudder post is too tall and is pushing the cover and attached ring off the floor. Has anyone heard of this or know what to do?

Is this a recent issue? I have at least two inches between the access port and the emergency rudder stem on my H36. Is it possible that the floor panel aft of the helm is sagging? You could possibly add blocking under the panel if that is the case. It is not a beefy structure to begin with.

4 or 6 screws hold the floor on 4 on the floor 2 on stern and will
slide out back with seat step up position and check it out,I have
plenty room my 07 H-36.

I've seen the same thing on my 38.
Solution was to not tighten down the cover so tight. Not loose by any means but perhaps a part of a turn away from tight.

Will be interested to see what others have to say.
