Anyone out there have an H36 80-82 with a Quarter Birth? If so could you please reply with pictures? I'm thinking of putting one into mine and would like some idea of what one could look like. Many Thanks.. Ross

H36 Q-berth

That is quite a revelation. I never realized the H36 was so different from my H37C(http://kb.sailboatowners.com/sbo/image/display?name=Hunter/36_80-82plan.gif&type=boatpic). From the plan it is hard to see what is between the nav station and the bulkhead on the starboard side. I guess you would be giving up a large locker at the minimum. Basically it would be similar to the H37C but on the other side since our galleys are on opposite sides. Cut out the bulkhead and reinforce it, add one as close to the engine as possible, and put in a platform. On the H37C we have a small cabinet and some floorspace that you would not have the length for. The H37C platform is built over the fuel tank. Later models had a removable panel for engine access from the side. Just a couple of ideas without ever having seen one close up.

Ask Hunter?

You may want to contact Hunter. I believe the qtr berth became an option in 1982 models. At least I haven't seen an earlier H36 with a qtr berth FWIW. I'll try to get some detailed pictures of ours and post them. Obviously, you lose a lot of locker space as our stbd cockpit locker is at best 5 in. deep but you gain a ton of useful cabin space.
