The traction pads on my h34 are peeling up and/or tearing away. I got some pads for paddle boards that would work if cut to size, but now I'm concerned they're too thick and might chafe the lines. Has anyone ever replaced these? If so, what did you use?
Thanks for any insight.

I replaced the pads with the same material, bought at West Marine, measure the pads, there are several sizes, and colors available. To remove them I used a heat gun and putty knife, cleaned the remaining residue with a solvent, I also replaced the small piece at the ancor, and the 2 pads in the cabin.

Most 34s I have seem don't have these pads, just non slip surface. Why no paint with kiwigrip or another non-skid product?

3M makes...

a stick-on sand papery tread cover that would work on these areas once you get the old stuff up. I used it on my engine cover step (ala Claude A design). See pix...

You might look at "Wing Walk" available from AirCraftSpruce. It is an adhesive material used on wing surfacesso it will likely resist the effets of sun, water, etc. It is available in black, white or clear. I used the clear on my companionway steps and it provides just enough friction with or without shoes. And very economical.
