Hi All, I am contemplating the removal and re sealing of the spray hood. While I did search for a thread, the most likely one was posted by a guest named Debbie in 2003 and the pictures and links are gone. Anyone out there save these? The email for Debbie is no longer active either. Too bad because it sounds exactly what I was looking for. If anyone has these pics I would appreciate a copy, thanks, Ian

HOG: You may also see if you can find anything on the H'31. I think that they are the same. The problem I see is removing the traveler. Once that is done it should just be a matter of removing the caulking. You may also want to consider putting dams in the forward end of the channels to prevent water from running forward and then leaking all over the cabin sole around the companionway.

This is something that I "always" thought I would do on my H'31 but never got around to doing it. Most of our issues went away by having a cover made for the companionway. The rest of the problem went away when I sold the boat. <g> We really liked that boat, but just needed (wanted) a little more space and a better berth.

Ian, I did mine about 9 years back and it was easier than I envisioned. The traveller came off easily and then the hood was held down by butyl .. some patient upward force and a blade allowed it to come up.. Be careful not to break the long "runners" that are on each side of the companionway.. Good Luck ! I'd like to see the pictures of yours .. since I am going to have to do mine again this year. This time, I will install a new plexi slider and wood stops for it

Hey, chuck.. That is the big cover over the sliding companionway plexi.. The piece that includes the two tunnels for the lines to run back to the cockpit in.. The slider pocket on the 34 is notorous for not having a rainwater drain and any rainwater that lands on the plexi slider goes into the pocket and then runs down inside the cabin because it can't drain up hill ! Hunter didn't think that one thru very well ! I drilled a couple of holes in mine between the pocket and the rope tunnels and that helped but didn't cure it.. The 31 doesn't have that same uphill drain problem..
