Draft no problem. . .

in the Hudson and Erie Canal. Six foot would not be a problem anywhere in the Erie Canal. Just stay within the marked channel. In the Hudson there is plenty of water so long as you mind the markers. We did see one forty footer aground, seemingly well offshore in the Hudson. But it was evident from the chart that he was well out of the channel. There was some shallow water near the Statue of Liberty. I can't speak for the Oswego or Lake Ontario. But there are freebie charts online that you can use. I draw less than five foot(shoal 37C) so was never concerned.

I did the trip from Lake Michigan, Huron and Erie and through the Erie canal to the Hudson. Then caried on down to New York City, Chesapeake, Bermuda, Azores, la Rochelle .... I have a web site with a ships log you might be interested in. The link is http://www.geocities.com/dynamic.systems@btinternet.com/index I need to add this years cruising (the singlehanded atlantic crossing). Hope to get this done during the next few days
