I'm about to install a new deck organizer to enable cockpit reefing. I purchased a Harken 3 sheave mid-range deck organizer to replace my 2 sheave organizer. My question is whether the original deck organizer is thru bolted into the cabin or whether there is a metal plate embedded in the deck.

Very similar to the two Claudes: I stacked a second 2 position sheave unit on top of my original one on the Starboard side. To get clearance of the lines passing through, I rotated the angle of the assembly around one of the screws. This required drilling a new hole in the deck. I can confirm there is an aluminum plate under the fiberglass which I tapped with a proper 5/16-18 thread. Works great for many years now.

I bought 3 sheave Harken organizers but they seem too long and not sure if the in deck metal plate is wide enough to be tapped for the screw holes. I'm returning them and getting a 2 sheave double decker. Should be able to tap into the metal plate in the deck....hopefully.
