The electrical wires for the bow Nav light pass through a hole in the deck with "goo" of some sort to caulk the hole.
The system seems like a hokey one but then again, it has lasted since 1983. I am wanting to replace the cable (insulation has cracked off) and the deck pass through is leaking a little when taking waves on the nose or heavy rain.

Have any of you solved this on your boat. Lots of hardware for through-deck installs but the pass-through seems to be too close to other stuff to fit something there. I was going to go with the "goo" route. If you have done this repair, do you have a recommended goo?

Lee...

When I found mine leaking, I just pried out as much of the old caulk as I could without damaging the wires and recaulkded it with Boat Life, squishing it into the deck hole with my finger to make sure it was sealed. Haven't had to rewire the bow light (or stern light for that matter), yet!

You may need to use the old wire in the pulpit SS to pull in new wire to the light so be carefull tugging on it if bare wire is exposed.

Thanks Dan and Claude. Sounds like new wire and new goo is the way to go. I have bought some two in one stuff to provide added protection to the insulation.
