Anyone had this problem on their H33? (Hull #208 Yanmar 3YM30) The plastic Syphon Breaker is located between the Heatex and the Mixing elbow and is fitted with a clear overflow hose which goes into the pan. It started slowly with just a few drops during initial running and then stopped. It is now a steady stream and the last time out I ended up with around a litre of water in he pan. Before I pull it off and have a look (for perhaps a sticking valve) does anyone know the inner workings or has encountered and solved the problem.

Nick, my friend's 2007 H33 had similiar problem. Think he bought a new siphon breaker to replace. I suppose you could unscrew the valve for cleaning & check to see if there's crack/broken parts. He got sea water splashed on the engine. Ugly.

Nick,

I also had a leaking Vac Break plastic valve a few years ago. It was a VB-18. When the SS U-tube was mounted to the back bulkhead it put side (rear) pressure on the plastic Vac. Break valve, which put the forward threads in compression and the aft threads in tension. With continuous vibration whenever the engine was running, it was a failure waiting to happen. Hunter should have mounted it with some "standoffs" that kept the valve from from pressing against the bulkhead. When I replaced mine, I added a stack of washers behind the mount and used a little longer screw. It has been fine for the last 8 or 9 tears since.

Thanks Ken and Navigator 97!
Problem solved.
When I got the unit off the valve is readily acessible via a couple of screws. Rinsed it in fresh water and did a reseating job by spinning it round a few times and Hey Presto no more leaking.
