Looking for portal lens (hopefully) replacements, as opposed to replacing the entire unit, unless that is my only option. Naturally any and all assistance is more than appreciated. Thanks. John 74354.770@compuserve.com

Check with Pompanette at . . . .

"www.pompanette.com". The picture of the H33 in "The Boats" forum looks like my H37C, also a 1979. Those are Gray ports and mine are two sizes, 7 x 14(6) and 5 x 12(4) plus an odd size in the cockpit. Don't know if they sell pieces-parts but it is worth a call. They do sell the rubber seals and screens separately. Several of us are replacing the Gray plastic ports with New Found Metals(NFM) bronze ports. They make those sizes in bronze and chrome. They use safety glass for the lens. But they are double the price of the plastic portlight. (http://www.newfoundmetals.com/index.htm)

replacing frames and ports

Grey stocks both the parts and the complete unit. The ports come in clear or smoked, which are very nice. Grey prefers to sell through a dealer...West Marine will special order and Boat U. S. has them in its catalog. Your ports are 5x12 and one size larger, which I believe is 7x15. I recently replaced some ports and some entire units, after twenty years. Grey predicts a life of ten years. The frames can be Awlgriped, which both protects from UV and makes old frames look almost new. Your frames and trim rings are probably screwed in and bedded with silicon. You can thru-bolt the vertical sides, but the horizontals will not line up due to the slant of the cabin sides. Replacing the entire unit is not a complex job (as long as you use lots of masking tape to prevent a catastrophic mess), but it is a time consuming one. I was not aware of the Newfound Metals Ports.
