I'm considering adding a dodger and possibly a bimini to my '78 H33. Does anyone out there have pictures of either installed on a '78-'82 H33? Also does anyone have experience with the pre-made units sold here on the Hunter owner's site. Thanks SV Serenity Lost

Yes and no

I had a bimini installed on my 1981 H33 last spring. It was made by our local canvas company at Shumway Marine in Rochester. It is a single bow, extending to the end of the boom. That means that you do not get full shade on all points of sail, but it is great for my wife and me. We decided to hold off on a dodger. Most of our sailing is day sailing on Lake Ontario, so we avoid the nasty weather if possible. All dodgers I have seen seem to take away the natural beauty of sailing, looking around you, taking in the sites while sailing. Maybe it is in the future for us, but not now. I am waiting until next week to reinstall the bimini, and will have to take some photos then to post to the net. Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty

Island Nautical. . .

made the original(1979) dodger that is on my H37C. It is still very serviceable although I almost never use it. Island Nautical has your exact pattern and is the company here on HOW. I made my bimini from a Sailrite kit and when I decide to match it with a new dodger I will also make that. I bought a roll of sunbrella off of E-Bay for $9.00 a yard where Sailrite was getting $13. Sailrite and this site both have pictures. Also check this HOW site for owner's pictures. Whichever you do be sure to go with the higher priced stainless tubing rather than aluminum.

Site bimini was excellent

And their price included fitting to my boat's measurements, and some minor changes we wanted. By the way we also went with a bimini behind th boom for our '77 h27. David Lady Lillie
