Today as I was going through the systems of our new 1981 H33 I managed to drop the bow light housing in the water. Way too cloudy to find unfortunately..It is the housing with a lock on the back of the housing. Any idea who made/makes it and.if a replacement is available?

Sounds like the same unit on my 1980 36'. I'll be at my boat tomorrow. I'll try to remember to take a look and a picture and will advise.

I forget the mfg. but pretty sure you cannot replace it unless you find a used one. When my lenses bit the dust I purchased Aqua Signals for both bow and stern. Yep, they are black plastic and had to be modified slightly to go on our mounts. But pretty easy to do. I'll try to find that mfg. info, German I think.

Definitely go LED for navigation lights, steaming and anchor lights if possible. They are brighter, much more reliable, use less power and will probably last longer than you will keep the boat. Incandescent bulbs tend to foul up at most inconvenient times or at least it seems so. Having to clean corroded terminals or replace burnt bulbs when on an outing is not fun specially if that light is up the mast.

I definitelyd like the idea of led lights. When I get back home and have access to a computer I will look around and see what I can find.Today I hope to borrow the manager to the marina's dive gear and see if luck will be on my side. The water here is so murky that it's a needle in the haystack search.

Sorry. Plans got changed. Not visiting my boat yesterday/today. 40 year old swimming pool equipment finally failed to respond to my nursing-along efforts to keep it all functioning. Purchasing/installing 21st century stuff now. Gotta get the job done before the dreaded algae bloom strikes. No one has been in the pool for 20 years. But we like the ambiance of it being there. So repair is the better option for now than filling it with dirt. Someday.

Were you able to retrieve your sunken fixture?

I think the light is a 2 NM Hella 2984

The Lenses on mine are very cloudy and doubt they reach 2 NM (probably will reach 1 NM which is all that is required for a boat under 12 meters). I am thinking of replacing mine with this one.

The Series 40 Aqua Signal nav lights look like a direct fit to the mounting tabs. Has anyone done a swap for those?

I went with the Aqua Signal Series 40 after all. It is in fact a direct replacement. Simple. you can even use the old bulb receptical in the new housing.
