The H31 leak reminded me that I wanted to post this.

My leak is on the starboard side. Water is coming out at the point where the vinyl padding on the wall, lower corner, meets the locker. Water goes under the berth (is soaked up by the foam in the cushions) and on to the floor. I can't find were it is coming in. It's not coming from the fixed or the opening port. I have squirted water directly at that area and can not make it leak. It only seems to happen after a really strong prolonged rain. I have noticed that under the rub rail at one point seems to have been chalked with silicon and it is deteriorating. Can this possibly be a source of entry?

Mike,

When you find or think you have found the source of the leak, try this product.

Mike:

I can tell you that finding a leak "source" is sometimes nearly impossible (trial and error). You can have intrusion in many different area (hand rails, sea hood, jib track...).

Mike, on your boat and from what you describe the first place I would look are the hold down bolts for the arch. I had a very slight water leak on our H33 at the bolts. The bolts had to be removed (one at a time), old caulking removed and new caulking installed. No further problems after that.

Hi Mike,

I had a leak on the starboard side as you described. The leak was coming from the GPS antenna which is mounted on the deck just before the end of the no skid area where the water on the deck flushes overboard. The water would collect on the material that is in the header, run aft and down the edge of the aft bulkhead. It would then run forward along the berth and run out at the starboard side of the elevated area of the berth.

Let me know if you have the GPS antenna in that area and I will tell you what I did to fix the problem.

Jake
