Just recently i noticed a horizontal hairline crack on the starboard side of the transom "deck cap". It is about 2.5 inches long. There are no fittings or any other obvious stress areas in the region and so I am curious if there is a design fault with the Hunter vision 32, or what i should look at to find the cure for this problem. can anyone help me???email at celestialwing@yahoo.com

The gelcoat may have been laid too thick.

Common problem in most boats. If it developes into something more than a hairline crack, then you need to worry. You can hide it by lightly sanding the area (light colors only). Another thing, it will probably "web out" as time goes on, so don't lose too much sleep over it.

You will see this on almost any production or fiberglass boat that is not brand spanking new (meaning it has seen use). It would be equiv. to painting a board and then bending the board slightly until paint cracks. The board is not weekened but the cracks appear. We all live with them or repair them. To repair, you need to gouge out the crack deeper (old style can opener works good or dremel) and fill with gelcoat. Sand down and polish. Pain in the butt but not as much as a wooden boat. Doug
