Hello all. I'm gonna replace the standing rigging on my '87 H31 this winter, and I was hoping to pre-order as much of the stuff as possible, before un-stepping the mast. So if anyone has done this project and/or happens to have the diameters and lengths of the forestay, backstay, upper and lower shrouds, diamonds and intermediates, along with dimensions of the associated turnbuckles and other fittings, it would be VERY helpful. Thanks, Rick J PS - I know that I could also just drop the mast first, and then send the old rigging off to have it duplicated; so if my idea of accumulating this stuff before I get started is exceptionally idiotic, just lemme know. I was just trying to minimize the 'down' time, but it might be more trouble than it's worth.

Hunter 310 San Pedro
Pre-order or build to fit

Rick, Hunter Marine can provide you with the original specs and drawings. But, are you sure nothing has been changed or modified in the last 20 years? Safer, simpler, and easier to send off what you have and get it replicated. Dennis W. S/V FullSailed

Good point....

Well, I know for sure that the rig itself is original... 'cause I'm the second owner, and I've had the boat for quite a while, and as far as I can tell, the first owner couldn't even manage to change the friggin' oil, let alone anything to do with the rigging. But I see the logic in your response. It's just safer to have the rigging duplicated. Thanks, Rick

Less Chance of Error

Rick, I had Hansen Rigging in Alameda do my H34. Dropped the mast at Svendsen's and took him the rigging myself. That way there is little chance of error. It only takes a few days for it to be done. He will decide if any changes should be made in the length while replicating. If there is any appreciable stretch as shown by the turnbuckle settings, then the cables can be fabricated accordingly. I think he made mine about an inch shorter than what I brought him. Allan

Questions for Allan

Thanks for the info. How much did Hansen charge for the rigging? What was the bill from Svendsen's? Thanks again, Rick
