H31 List

[Reacher]

Our
, new to us, 1984 H31 has a very noticable starboard list.
I can see why. The head, dinette, gally, hot water and fuel tanks are on the starboard.
Has any one foubd a way to neutralise the list?

On mine, the Battery bank is also in the starboard lazarette.

Keeping the Freshwater tank nearly full seems to help. I also stow heavier spare parts under the port bench seat in the center cabin. Storing canned food and spare bottled water in the cabinet just aft of the navigation table instead of in the galley helps some too. I still have a very slight list

The original placement for the batteries was under the aft quarter berth over the shaft log. If you put 2 batteries in this area is may help neutralize part of the problem. This was a common issue on this model.

The batts are right behind the engine. I guess we'll do the stow as much on the port side route too.

Thanks Steve. The batts are behind the engine. Maybe we'll invite heavy people sailing and they can sit on the port side.

I have a single start battery just port of the shaft just behind the engine compartment and I have two house batteries in a compartment under the nav table. Our boat does not list much to starboard.

Can someone post a picture of how/where the batteries are mounted behind their engine on their H31?

Both of mine were relocated by the previous owner to the starboard lazarette behind the hot water heater, and I want to see where the were from the factory.

I will try to get by my boat today. Did the boat come from the manufacturer with a house bank of batteries and a start battery? I have no idea what the original battery configuration was, but I sure like mine

I have an 84 31. I have 2 batteries above the shaft log and 1 battery behind the water heater. Under my nav station is empty. No box at all.
