1984 H31 Question for 31 owners.......My port cockpit drain will not drain dry. It always holds water. Standing in the cockpit, you can see water looking down into the cockpit drain. I finally realized that this is caused by the cockpit drain hose (over the aft berth) running uphill as it travels aft to the downpipe at the transom. Are all H31's this way?

Our '87 sure is..

In fact, when under way, we cram a sponge into the area above the drain to keep the puddle from spreading across the cockpit on a port tack. I would love to hear if anyone has fixed this problem.

My 84 H31....

cockpit seems to drain just fine. The port side drain has a nylon spacer that places the drain about a 1/4" above the drain basin which does trap a small amount of water. The starboard side drain is flush in the basin which allows the water to drain completely.

Mine is the same way

I installed a flush mounted drain on the port side so a puddle would not be there all the time, but water does remain in the drain hose because of the way the hose is mounted. I considered trying to mount a 90 degree elbow so that the hose didn't have to loop down but have been unlucky at finding one that would work.
