H30 Rig

Did the H30 come with both a masthead and a fractional rig? If so, what years came with witch ?

The Cherubinis had a mast head rig. Is this the model that you are referring to?

Please identify the year of your H30. There are older ones with mast head rigs and newer one with fractional rigs. Your post on the "Cherubini Hunters" forum implies that you have one of the older ones (like mine). Of course, if it is, the PO may have put a new mast with fractional rig.

My 1978 had a masthead rig. Had I not upsized to the 37c, I would be in the Caribean in her right now. WOW what a boat. Lived on her for two years.

The one I recently bought is a 1981. I'm fairly sure it was a masthead rig, but I didn't take any pic's from a distance, and the boat is a 6 hour drive each way, away. I guess I'll have to include this with my next email full of questions. Winter is a pain !!

If it is an '81 then as has been said it is masthead rigged. Where is the boat? Are you taking it back to Green Bay? Always wondered what happened to the H37C that was bought near me in Lorain, Ohio and sailed to Green Bay. Now I am having a senior moment and forgetting his name.

Yes, we are sailing it back in the spring. It's in South Haven Mi. right now. I was checking around for prices on a new mainsail and Doyle Sails wanted to know if it was the masthead or fractional.

Don't have any 36's at our club, but it may be at a marina on the river, or more likely kept in Marinette. Lots of deep water there, none in lower bay..

The 1981 Hunter Cherubini is a masthead rig, it's a tall mast rig, TM, -here's the rig dimensions e=10'9" j=12'10" p=37'0" i=42'0"

How do you tell if a particular Hunter is a Cherubini ?

Just from knowing the hull id which contains the year of manufacture. Or if you have owned one then just by looking at her lines and rig. In general any Hunter from 1974 thru 1984. There are exceptions in 1984, notably the H34 and the H40. Those were new in house designs.

OK, so mine is a 1981, which makes it a Cherubini. Now, are all the 1981 H30's a tall mast? I also have the 4' shoal draft..

Is there a place to get definitive information on the Hunters? I would hate to drive everyone nuts with all my questions.

Terry, thanks! Now I remember. Did you hear how, when he was leaving Lorain, they put gasoline in his diesel tank? I was supposed to sail part way with him. I was out there pounding in four footers off Huron wondering where he was.

Bob, afraid there is not one comprehensive place. If you look at "Specifications" under Boat Info you will find it lacking. I rely on Sailrite for the I,J,P,E values. Have found them to be accurate. Ed no didn't hear about that. The tall rig on the 30main has a shorter boom. I thought the way to go on lake Michigan would be to get the long boom on the tall rig. I sold my last 30year to a friend. He would love to have a tall rig and keep his boom you could then use less overlap on the headsail.
