Could anyone tell me what the lower hull thickness is and if it is solid or cored below the waterline. I am assuming that it is solid but am not positive. I bought a new depth finder and need to mount a puck style transducer to get me thru the rest of the season. I will install a thru hull transducer this fall after haul out.

Why?

Dave: If your transducer works by gluing it to the hull why would you want to drill a hole in the hull? I am reasonably confident that the hulls are all solid fiberglass. I had a depth sounder glued to the hull on my '85 H'31 for the past 13 years until it recently gave up the ghost. It worked just fine.

thanks

I installed the puck transducer last weekend and it works just fine. I also returned the thru hull transducer. I like your advice, if this doesn't work out than I can always drill a hole later.

I like the in hull xducer.

I have a 79 H30 and also mounted a fish finder with the transducer inside the hull rather than a thru hull. This was done as a temp. fix for whacky depth finder. I found that I like the fish finder better and definately like the in hull xducer better than the thru hull. Anywhere you want to try the transducer just stick it on the floor with some kind of cream or lotion to keep the air out and see where it works. Once I found the spot I wanted I just used silicone adhesive to keep it in place and again to keep out any air pockets or air bubles. SeaYa Ed
