We bought a '94 in August. So far, we are very happy with it. It's very comfortable and easy to sail.

Have same, 1995. I am located on Tennessee River at HixsonTenn. Plan on heading to the Gulf via the TennTom. A roomy boat for its size.

We just bought ours last year. Common area's for leaks are the aft starboard locker down by the swim platform, most likely from the swim ladder bolts. Leaking from what appears the be the windows in the rear berth, most likely rub rail. Check the caulking around rub rail very good.We are now dealing with replacing molded hull liner. Another common one seems to be up in the two pockets in the V-berth. Not sure if they have them in the 97, mine is a 95. Another common area to inspect well is the area under the hot water tank. The plywood shelf tends to rot away if there has been leaking. Ours had already been replaced with starboard.
Over all we love the boat. The traveler up behind the wheel took some getting used to and one of the previous owners put a 42" wheel on making getting around in the cockpit fun at times but it's big enough to lean back and steer with your foot. :) They are pretty quick, point up well in the wind. If it's in good shape it's hard to go wrong with one.

One other thing Gary. I looked at the add and it seems lacking in electronics. Ours a 95 was listed at 39K but was loaded out on electronics, chart plotter, gps, wind, depth autopilot etc. If this boat doesn't have any of these things they are expensive to buy and add. that could be a good bargaining tool if other comparable boats have these items. the pic's in add do look nice though

Thanks Dave I'm planning on taking a flashlight and checking these things out. The lack of a dodger and the electronics is a concern with this boat, I figure 10K worth to bring it up.

What do you think?

I bought a 1995 last year. Love it. It a perfect boat for my wife and I to cruise the Gulf Coast. Did have an issue with the engine seizing after a storm forced water up the exhaust, but fortunately insurance covered it.
The latch for the anchor locker fits into a drilled hole, which is un-backed. I traced dampness in the small starboard cabinet in the forward bulkhead(?) to a plugged anchor locker drain which had water up to this latch.
Panoramic windows, but I would prefer more, smaller opening portlights for ventilation.
There is a lack of functional storage. On that note, I saw photos of a California boat where the owner converted the port side settee area to an entertainment center
