I know there is a similar thread about an H33, but I didn't want to hijack it. Has anyone done something like this on a 29.5? I have the mount, but can't find a long enough/straight enough piece of tubing to attach it to because of the curvature for the stern seats. Any ideas?

Mine is between the port side stern seat and the upright of the opening for the walk through. Motor is a 3.5 horse Nissan that hangs over the propane locker on the stern. This restricts the lid opening but not a big deal.

I made one out of AZEC which is similar to starboard and a piece of Mahogany. It is attached with stainless U bolts. Has been fine for the last several years. the motor is a 4hp Merc

Sailm8, that's what I hoped to do, but found the mount I bought was 8" wide, but have only 6" of rail before the bend.

Dave, I like your idea. I may try something like that.

Thanks all.

Gary it was made very cheaply from scrap. The stainless U bolts are from Lowes, about 1/3 the cost of WM. You could even use plywood if you seal it and paint it well and replace every few years.

Thanks, I had forgotten I wanted to do something about this over the winter. I use one of the cheap motor mounts from 'Defender' a local marine supplier. The motors flops a bit because it just rides on the top rail. This winter I was thinking of adding a second one to the lower rail. Then tie them together by fitting a ss pipe vertically. Whether that would stiffen the block or not ?
Like your suggestions but don't like the pricey Edson option.
