H280 Heads Shower

my hand held shower in the heads of my 1996 H280 does not get any water supply from the main tap mixer in the hand basin i have removed the flexible hose unscrewed the fitting that sits between the taps and all seems clear.
Is there a switch/lever to switch the water supply over from the hand basin to the shower rose. i have looked all over but cannot see anything
this seems a very silly problem but i cannot for the life of me see what i am doing wrong. i have only recently fixed the hot water system so now would like to use the shower. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think you need to pull down or lift up the flexhose connection to the tap for water to flow, but I'm not sure. Will check friend's H280 this weekend and let you know.

Pull up on the plunger

If yours is like mine, there is a knob on faucet similar to the one that closes the stopper in your house sink faucet. Pull up on that knob and water will divert to the shower

Ours has an odd black fitting between the flexible hose and the faucet base where the hose attaches. Pull up/push down to control flow to the hose and shower head.

Thanks i eventually managed to release the black fitting so it now moves up and down but does not seal compleatly so i have water coming out of my shower head as well as the tap on the head basin, i think i will have to replace the odd black fitting which in my case sits directly below the flexible hose not the type that has a seperate push/pull plunger, question is were can i source this fitting? what is the name of the supplier? also i do not live in the US so will have to import the part
