Any ideas on how to get this hinge plate for the engine cover

re-attached. The fiberglass is thin, the holes are over-enlarged, and not sure I can get access below the floor.

Looks like someone already tried those plastic anchors for drywall, previous owner fix no doubt. Clean as much dirt and crap from in and around the holes as you can and fill them with JB weld or such.

Mine are backed and screwed into wood blocks. I have two large openings in the top corners in order to run hoses and wires and allows you to get your hands in the opening to hold the blocks of wood while screwing in the hinge. I wish I had a picture to show but the boat is away for the winter.

Yeah -- holes in the top above the hinge plate recess would the best solution so I can use wood backers.
That brings up another question, how to cut holes in fiberglass?

With 2" hole cutter.
I would glue a 1/4" steel plate in the back and use sheet metal screws.
And while you are at it, do the same on the other side. You know it is going to fail soon.

I have removed the hinges which allows the "doghouse" to be moved out of the way for engine maintenance. I added in place of the hinges the same locking latch that are on the rear of the doghouse. Works great you can get the latches from Defender Marine.

Southco Soft Draw Latch Black.

Yeah, those hinges were a pain in the arse to get lined up if you took the enclosure off. I like the idea of replacing them with latches.
